Accompaniment Training with JCIJ

Join Join JCIJ's Accompaniment Training on Sunday, June 2, 2024 in Seattle from 1-4PM! Register for more details.

Open to all community members and multifaith communities. Priority will be given to people who intend to volunteer with the Jewish Coalition for Immigrant Justice (JCIJ).

This will be an interactive training, with breaks for socializing and eating. It will lay the groundwork for all the types of accompaniment we do, including visits to:

  • USCIS for fingerprints, ICE check-ins, etc

  • Immigration court in Seattle or Tacoma

  • DSHS, medical evaluations, Department of Licensing

  • Observe ICE deportation flights at King County Airport

Participants will gain an understanding of accompaniment foundational principles, why and how people are currently migrating to the US, relevant aspects of the US Immigration System, immigrants’ rights, and what we do as volunteers in each accompaniment situation. Participants will emerge feeling confident to take on most accompaniment assignments.

If you have not been trained in past years by JCIJ or the Church Council of Greater Seattle, this training will be a prerequisite to taking most accompaniment assignments. If you have had previous accompaniment training, please join us if you can and share some of your experiences! This way we can all move forward together as a team with a common base of understanding and experience. Plus, we think it will be fun!

If you have any questions about this training, feel free to contact Dina
